Abstract
El objetivo de este ensayo consiste en retomar los planteamientos geopolíticos del científico alemán Alejandro de Humboldt a partir de su visita a varias de las colonias novohispanas del Nuevo Mundo, particularmente a la que él consideró “la joya de la corona”; es decir, el territorio de la Nueva España (México) a inicios del siglo XIX.
Al respecto, Humboldt legó, a través de su obra el Ensayo Político sobre el Reino de la Nueva España, relevantes aportaciones para el devenir del México independiente y su proyección geopolítica hasta el siglo XXI, con lo cual la obra de Humboldt se convierte en un sustento básico en el ámbito de los estudios geopolíticos que se adelantan en México, logrando con ello afianzar criterios tales como la “conciencia territorial” y las ventajas de la posición geoestratégica de México frente al mundo en los tiempos actuales.
The objective of this article is to regain geopolitical approaches the German scientist Alexander von Humboldt from his visit to the New World, several of the New Spain colonies, but particularly to that considered himself “the crown jewel” is meaning the territory of New Spain (Mexico) in the early nineteenth century. In this regard, Humboldt bequeathed through his work Political Essay on the Kingdom of New Spain important contributions to the future of independent Mexico and geopolitical projection to the XXI century, which, Humboldt’s work becomes a living in the field of basic geopolitical studies underway in Mexico, thereby achieving strengthen criteria such as “territorial consciousness” and the advantages of the geostrategic position of Mexico to the world in the times.
