Abstract
Social network platforms as part of media have emerged to keep society informed in a parallel and informal way as traditional media do; however, unlike these, social network are not sponsored, allowing free and gratuitous citizen engagement not only among individuals, but also within government agencies and organizations, this has led to information “democratisation”. Nevertheless, due to their nature and sometimes anonymity, they also represent a major breeding ground to carry out attacks, either by diffusion of scandals or false information; indeed, throughout the Presidency’s election contest period, society conducted containment and broadcast information measures to mitigate the psychological effects and take a lead role based on a concerted effort.
